This place blows me away. The views are stunning and walking along the cliffs is a brilliant experiance looking out over to Wales. I see lots of dogs and people who like to walk along this route.
Just at the base of National trust land of Sand point sit the little Sandy point car park.
It's quite a sizeable car park to be fair, and is spacious and quite pretty.
There are trees for shade, plenty of spaceport picnics and BBQs. Its rather tranquil there to be honest and its nice just to chill there in the sun or during an evening.
No overnight camping though and the place is monitored.
There are also local cafes and shops nearby and some really nice walks along sand point or sand bay.
What a gem of a find! We found this place by accident and loved the wide, sandy beach, the rugged Point which is looked after by National Trust and the views of the Bristol Channel, the Somerset Levels, the Mendips and the surrounding towns in the area. The carpark charge is £3.50 for the entire day, and there is also an hourly rate of £1ph (I think). I must also recommend the Sand Point Cafe on the sea front, good grub at a fair price!
The car park belongs to the National Trust and there is now a charge to use it. Ideal place to park for walks along the bay, or up onto the Headland of Sand Point. Beautiful views of the Brecons and the Severn estuary. Towards the end it gets narrow with steep drops so supervise children and dogs carefully. Abundant wildlife and wild flowers, and a great place for a picnic. Walks in the other direction to Woodspring Priory past the old military base. Be careful on the beach as the occasional bit of ordinance washes in and there can be sharp shrapnel on the beach. The car park is basic, no toilets, but there are some in the village. Only downside in Summer can be the constant drone of the generator on the Ice Cream van ruining the peace and quiet..
Rip off! £5 to park now.Looks like the whole area dosent welcome anyone in a car.Another place to stop visiting.
Beautiful area. This is a must visit if you like walking.
Returned Again!
Last time we walked the dogs on the beach and this time we climbed the stairs and strolled to the end of Sand Point and took in the awesome view. We took an easy walk along the bluff overlooking some quiet, tucked away beaches. It was well worth a second visit. We parked at the end of the road. We paid 3 pounds for 4 hours.. Very convenient.
Great place to park the car but a very long walk right into Weston itself, around 10 miles round trip but great if you love walking like I do. Such a shame at the amount of rubbish everyone left behind in bags everywhere! Yes the bins were full but take your rubbish home if the bins are full, feel sorry for whoever had to clean it up, shocking behaviour from people using a beautiful national trust car park & they should be ashamed of themselves! Other than that it was a lovely place to park it even had an Ice cream van parked up when we arrived at lunch time.
